Calling all you yogis! Which of you wants to be super stylish and super comfortable while practicing headstand, or even the ever-amazing savasana? I’m guessing most (if not all) of you. Athleisure has been a huge trend during the past few years as seen on Gigi and Bella Hadid, Taylor Hill, and Kendall Jenner, among others.
In my opinion, it’s the best trend because not only do you look super chic and on-trend, you are also crazy comfortable wearing your favorite yoga leggings and work out tops. However, sometimes it can be difficult to determine what to spend money on. Athletic wear is not cheap (talking to you Lululemon) but can be worth it if you know what to buy that will last you a long time. Below I am going in-depth between two of the top brands: Lululemon and Athleta, as well as mentioning a few others to keep in mind when shopping for yoga apparel.
First and foremost, it is so important to have good leggings for working out. While it can be tempting to pick up a few cheap pairs and call it a day, you will notice a difference if you invest a little more. Guaranteed. In terms of quality, Lululemon and Athleta leggings are roughly the same. Both brands offer many different styles/types depending on the type of exercise you need them for, or even just to stroll around town.
I really love the Reveal and Inspire tight from Lululemon- cute, comfy, and look chic. Not to mention, both are amazing for higher impact exercise as well. From Athleta, I really recommend the Chaturanga tight (not pictured). Although they do not have as good of compression as the lulu tights, they are the absolute best for hot yoga.
To go with your super fun leggings, why not get an equally as flattering sports bra? There are a plethora of sports bras on the market right now, and it can be hard to determine which ones will offer support to ones that look cute. I really like long line sports bras- they act like little crop tops and look fab with high waisted leggings for a hot yoga session. This one is from Athleta and is called the Deep Breath Bralette (they come in other colors besides white).
To top it off (ha, get it), you need a workout tank to complete the look. There are a million and one different types of these. It is up to you which type you like- flowy or tight, neutral or bright. My current fave right now is the Tie it Up Tank from Lululemon- you can tie it in the back or wrap it around in the front. So cute. Also looks perfect paired over the Athleta Bralette previously mentioned. And lastly, a Cool Racerback Tank from Lulu is a necessity. They work for every type of exercise and stay in place- upside down or right side up.
I hope this helped you figure out what to wear at your next Vinyasa session! Don’t be afraid to mix and match your favorite yoga pieces and create a look that is uniquely you.
