Picture the summer scene of a scorching hot day that comes to a close as it’s greeted by a pink and orange toned sky that signifies the perfect time to crank up the bonfire. While inciting the craving for a summer retreat is a bit torturous with the remaining month of school being occupied by papers, projects, and exams, the vision is enough motivation to help us see that the end is in sight.
With inciting moods, we can’t forget or underestimate the power that color has in being able to do so. Pantone’s spring 2017 color, Flame, is a color that screams summer when I see it. This sentiment is reflected as Pantone describes it as, “A red-based orange, Flame, is gregarious and fun loving. Flamboyant and vivacious, this wonderfully theatrical shade adds fiery heat to the spring 2017 palette”.
Flame provides a perfect happy medium from deciding between a pure red or orange. Both red and orange have a tendency to compete amongst each other for the title of being the most energetic, electric color, but Flame allows both pigments to be combined to tone each other down, yet still be effective in maintaining and conveying warmth and energy.
