Winter Issue Release Party

By Nellie Given

What time is it? Party time! It’s almost time for the UP release party, celebrating our winter issue!! Here are the details:

When: Thursday, Feb. 16 from 7-9 p.m. (the perfect time to party)

Where: Brick Street (the perfect place to party)

Who: Anyone can come—this event is free and open to the public

*Also, there will be FREE FOOD at this party, so of course you’ll be there!

This event is the first time UP staff and readers will be able to see the completed winter issue. The magazines will be distributed for everyone on campus and Uptown Friday, Feb. 17 and throughout the following week.

UP is collaborating with Miami University Fashion & Design (MUFD) to put on a fashion show during the event, which will feature local and national brands. Always support your local businesses, people.

“Our winter release party is always UP’s biggest event because it involves the fashion show,” says publisher Francesca Peck. “Students walk a runway, showing off merchandise from both local Oxford stores and national brands.”

Our theme this issue is Youth in Revolt.

“Youth in Revolt is all about resisting conformity in today’s society,” says Peck. “It calls readers to question authority and rewrite the rules of American popular culture: beauty standards, fashion trends, social norms.”

UP photography staff will cover the event with both polaroid and digital cameras, taking pictures of the fashion show backstage, the runway, and partygoers throughout the night.

There is no reason for any of you not to be there next Thursday, so show up and get the party started!
