Explore Hyde Park

By Maddie Wood

As much as I love Oxford’s small-town charm, sometimes a sunny Saturday getaway is much needed. Take a break and check out Hyde Park, one of Cincinnati’s crowned jewels.

A short 45 minute drive from Miami’s campus and 10 minutes from downtown Cincinnati, Hyde Park offers both the quaintness of a close-knit community and the high-end amenities of a booming town.

A cute town square and plenty of artsy apartments compliment the plethora of trendy restaurants, boutiques and galleries filled with young professionals and community members.

If you’ve got some spare change, pop into the Alligator Purse boutique to browse designer collections and unique jewels from brands such as Theory and Trina Turk.

For more affordable finds, try Leeli + Lou. This fashion-forward shop has everything from shoes to accessories to fun, on-trend staple pieces.

There’s also a tried and true favorite, Lululemon, right on the main street in case you’re looking to spruce up your athleisure wardrobe.

After a busy day of shopping, make a reservation at the ultra-cool e+o kitchen to unwind. With specialty cocktails, sushi, and a to die for brussel sprout and kale salad, e+o has a little something to please anyone. Not to mention the decor is a interior design junkie’s dream, with plenty of natural light, soothing colors, and a floor-to-ceiling living wall in the back.

Sometimes a short getaway after a busy week can help you appreciate our little “oxvegas” even more.
