Camera Bags, Through Fashion Week’s Lens

By Allie Eames

I’m sometimes hesitant to jump onto new purse trends. Considering I absolutely love bags in general and would spend my last dime on a designer tote, I usually have to restrict myself, for better knowledge that money spent on the trendiest pieces sometimes means only getting a semester or two of use. However, the newest runway trend is definitely one worth investing in.

This season’s runway bags are the kind to seamlessly translate into street style, and they’re being referred to as camera bags. They’re square shaped, thick, and hang cross-body style—the perfect bag to take out on weekends in a chic nude or grey, and out at night in a silver or black, toting your phone, wallet, and essentials perfectly. During Fall Fashion Week, they were amplified—every designer had some rendition of a small boxy bag, either played up with fringe, embellishment, or graphics, or downplayed in a statement color.

They can be dressed up with an embellished strap or left understated. There really is no limit or guidelines to what these can be matched with—they’re an incredibly versatile style. A cool way to make them yours? Iron on some patches or accessorize with pins and keychains to elevate your style.

One thing’s for sure and that’s that you’ll be seeing a lot of these bags in the future, so get them while they’re fresh.
