Target Sets UP New Designer Collaboration

By Maddie Wood

I’ll be the first to admit I’m a huge Target fan. A trip to my hometown is never complete without a quick two-hour trip to the Holy Land. Some of my most coveted pieces of clothing have come from the stylish superstore, not to mention many college and beauty essentials.

I indulge in Target garments no matter the name on the tag, but I especially enjoy the designer collections. Target has collaborated with major brands like Peter Pilotto, Lilly Pulitzer, and Missoni to bring affordable versions to their shelves. These collections have all been wildly successful, selling out in most stores within hours.

Target recently announced their next designer collaboration with Finnish clothing line Marimekko. Marimekko’s line will consist of over 200 print-centered pieces ranging from $7.99- $499.99. The collection of clothing and home goods is set to release on April 17.

Marimekko is known for their bold graphic prints and oversize silhouettes, and became especially famous during the 1960s Mod period. Florals, polka dots, stripes and windowpane checks in bright colors elevate classic shifts and tailored blouses in Marimekko’s Spring 2016 runway collection.

While Target is remaining relatively tight-lipped on the collection for now, they’ve released a promotional ad of a graphic navy and white tent surrounded by chic floral ottomans. If the teaser is any indication of what’s to come, Target shoppers are in for a treat.
