Falling for Fringe

By Vivian Drury

Fringe adds an extra kick of personality and creativity to any outfit. It has great versatility and can be found on several articles of clothing. Fringe exudes a very boho, hippie vibe, yet it can adapt to a range of styles. 1

One of my favorite fall pieces is the fringed suede skirt. The soft material displays a feeling of comfort and ease, while the fringe really enhances the look by giving it a sense of uniqueness. Long and short fringe skirts look great with any button down top and a pair of ankle strap heels. The heels and button down add sophistication without taking away from the playful skirt.

The Minnetonka three-layer fringe boot is one of the classic Native American styled takes on fringe. Although these boots are still popular, other styles of boots, like the bootie, have taken a very sleek and subtle approach to fringe. Booties with small fringe accents are chic addiction to any outfit because they play up a lively, out on the town look.

Other accessories that highlight fringe’s versatility are handbags and scarfs. Neutral colored cross-body bags that have fringe are another great way to achieve an effortless but still fun fall look. I love fringe bags that come in dark teals, purples, or cobalts because they can match with anything, but they bring in a pop of color for an evening uptown. As for scarfs, is often found on the bottom of infinity scarfs. A small amount of fringe also looks great on blanket scarves. These are great for cold days because they are thick and soft, but also very fashionable.

Fringe can also be used for Halloween costumes, like this breezy flapper.
